Adventureland

Welcome, bold adventurers of all ages, to a land of the unknown. Deep in the jungles of the world is where you can find a world like no other. Here, you can explore the untamed lands in exotic locations all around the world, traveling to places such as Central America, Asia, Polynesia, and the Caribbean.

Entering from the Castle Gardens is a Central American area full of Aztec ruins. On the right is Adventure Outfitters and on the left is Miguel's Rancho del Yucatan, a Mexican restaurant. In the center of the area is Raging Spirits, a roller coaster similar to the one in Tokyo Disneysea, with an extended track. In the southeast corner of the land, near the entrance to Frontierland, is Chitchen Itza Traders and Adventure Eats.

North from this area is a Polynesian area. To the left near the Fantasyland border is Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room. To the right is Tropical Travelers and Aloha Island. Behind those two things is a big, rocky landform that houses Moana's Magnificent Voyage, an original dark ride where you sail in double-hulled boats and ride through the story of the film. The ride exits into Tamatoa's Treasures. To the left of this area is an entry into Discoveryland while more of Adventureland lies on the right. Liki Tikis are in front of Moana to cool you off on a hot day.

East of the Polynesian area is an area based on Asia, specifically India. All of the buildings are on the left here. The first of these is the entrance to the Jungle Cruise, a mix between the Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland versions of the attraction. Further up is Skipper's Canteen, a restaurant, and King Louie's Jungle Treasury, a shop.
Last but not least is a Caribbean area. This is the largest of the areas of Adventureland. You can get through here through the Polynesian area by walking the bridge over to Adventure Island, where you can explore the Swiss Family Treehouse on the west side of the island, explore the ruins on the island, or see the Dead Man's Shore on the east side of the island.

The area can also be entered through the Asian area. You enter by coming across a pond where the Queen Anne's Revenge is docked. On the furthest left side of this port is a small hut where you can sign up for A Pirates Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas, where you are led on a scavenger hunt around Adventureland to find lost treasure. This is like the Magic Kingdom version of the interactive game. Continuing on into a British colonial Caribbean village, you can find the Jolly Roger Tavern on the left and the Pirate's League, where you can transform into a pirate, empress, or mermaid. When the island connects with the village, you will find Tortuga Treats, a treat store, Golden Galleon, a gift shop, and the boarding place for Explorer Canoes, where you sail on rowboats around the waterways of Adventureland and Frontierland. There is a bridge that the Disneyland Railroad goes over, and nets on the arches of the bridge to keep the canoes in the park. Going under the bridge, you can find Bartholomew's Bites, a small food place, on the right. Going up towards an 18th-Century British Caribbean Fortress. This houses Pirates of the Caribbean, a reversed version of the Paris ride where you go through the jungle, then grottos, then an added shipwreck scene, then the village scenes, and then some added fortress scenes. Blue Lagoon is a restaurant that views passing boats on the ride. You exit the ride through some catacombs and end up in the Pirate Booty gift shop. Nearby that, you can board the Black Pearl, which transports guests to Treasure Cove in Grand Disneysea.

This was a fun area to make. I decided to take this Adventureland in a direction it never had before by adding the Disneysea-similar Central American area. I also came up with the Moana ride myself. It's original concept was a Splash Mountain alternative called Ocean Mountain. Although that idea is still in the works, I developed another idea to have a dark ride based off of the film. I also added the Swiss Family Treehouse because that's what Mom remembers a lot about Disneyland when she was young. I know there is some tension with the Jungle Cruise involving headhunters, but I feel like they're a natural part of the ride. Sure, this is an outdated cultural depiction, but rather than removing things like that, we should learn from them. Plus, this is how things were in the early 20th Century when Europeans were colonizing Africa. By the way, we should not erase the image of imperialism, because then how will we learn from the past without it?

  1. I love your comments on learning from the past instead of removing it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Very well said! I’m so proud of you! I love this area a lot. It feels like it’d be a place of fun and adventure everywhere you turn. The Moana ride sounds awesome and would be a huge hit! Raging Spirits rollercoaster sounds amazing too! There is just so much you could do with the theming in this area. It would really feel like you are stepping into this different parts of the world! And the pirate scavenger hunt would be so fun!
