Castle Gardens

At the center of the park lies a wonderful island with an even more wonderful-er castle. Here in the Castle Gardens, families of all types can be amazed by the wonders and experience many attractions. In the center is a castle, the Castle of Magical Stories, which plays a tribute to every Disney Princess ever created on the top of its spires. These gardens also have a bridge connecting all of the areas of the park (with the exception of Discoveryland) and many kinds of magical things to spark your imagination. This island is octagon-shaped with each side featuring a bridge to a different part of the park.

Coming in from the south (Main Street), you cross a bridge into the gardens. There is a huge garden that you can go around to get to an amphitheater to watch a castle stage show, such as Mickey's Friendship Festival. To the left near the southwest bridge (which goes to Tomorrowland), is a snack shack called Blooming Bites. You can also go up the stairs to the right or left of a pond in front of the castle to go into the Castle of Magical Stories, which is around the same size as Shanghai Disneyland's Enchanted Storybook Castle. Inside, you can see stained glass windows of every Disney Princess, eat and meet princesses in person at the Royal Banquet Hall, or become a princess at Bippity Boppity Boutique.

To the west of the castle, where the parade route goes through and where the first of three bridges to Fantasyland crosses over, is a circus area. Here, you can meet Disney characters as Circus Stars in Circus Character Encounters, buy some merchandise at The Big Top, or get wet in the nearby Casey, Jr. Soak Station. You can also ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant, which is located near the castle.

On the north side of the gardens, where you can find the northwest and north bridges (both of which lead into Fantasyland, the latter of which the parade route crosses over from), you can find two walls with mosaics of which create a beautiful scene of all of the castles at the other worldwide Disneylands. This leads to the Gazebo Grill, a sit-down restaurant. Behind that is the Dreamers Cabin, where you can meet Mickey Mouse. Nearby that is the northeast bridge (which goes into Adventureland.)

Finally, across the pond (which is accessible over a small bridge) is the Mary Poppins Carousel, inspired by the one featured in the classic film. Near that are the East and Southeast bridges (which go to Frontierland and Salem Square.)

For this park, I decided to have a different version of the hub. Instead of a small area, I decided to make it like Shanghai and have the hub itself be an area. I made the castle the center of it to emphasize its importance, and to make it look as if no matter where you are, you can find your way back to the gardens by following the image of the castle. Plus, I wanted to connect the area with a central hub and bridges.

  1. Sounds like a lovely area! How do the spires on the castle pay tribute to the princesses? That’d be interesting to see.
