French Harbor

Bonjour! Welcome to a land celebrating one of the most culturally rich countries in the world, with the beauty, cuisine, and folklore of France. In two sections, you can explore the streets of Paris and a charming village. Plus, you will find some of the best dining options in the park here.

When you enter from Pacific Wharf, you are immediately immersed in a Parisian area. This resembles a town square, and in the center of it is a fountain with rats holding up bottles. On the left are Le Souvenirs de Paris and Chef's Shop, two gift shops. On the right is a big Paris building where you can ride Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, a modified version of the original Walt Disney Studios attraction. The ride exits into Chez Remy. Further on is a bridge to the other side near Chef's Shop, in in the center of another square is the Parisian Theater, where you can see The Hunchback of Notre Dame: The Musical, a live stage production of the film. Around the theater are shops and restaurants such as Bastille Bistrot, Pierre's Parisian Cafe, Le Shop de la Seine, Eiffel Tower Traders, Les Fortunates, and Fashion de Paris. From there, you can go into Mermaid Kingdom.
Crossing the bridge, you will soon find yourself immersed in the village from Beauty and the Beast. In front of you, Bonjour! Village Gifts stands. If you go to the left, you will find Maurice's Traders, Village Bakery, and Enchanted Objects on the left. If you go to the right, you will find Gaston's Tavern, Library Gift Shop, and Creppe Corner. This pathway leads to the bridge to Mermaid Kingdom as well as the Marine Life Institute.

On the northern part of the village, you will find Belle's Cottage near the border with Marine Life Institute, where you can meet Belle herself. If you keep on going to the left from there, you can find the entrance to the Be Our Guest Restaurant, where you are transported by a magic mirror from the village inn into Beast's Castle. Between that is a pathway that goes to a bridge that leads to Beast's Castle itself, where you can ride The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, which is a lot like its original Tokyo attraction. It exits into Lumiere's Treasures. If you go left from there, you will go into Greek Seashore.

When first making this area, I knew that there would be two areas. One would be Paris, and the other would be Beauty and the Beast. I chose these two ideas because it's what most people would think about when people link Disney with France (next to Disneyland Paris.) This actually took some time to fully think through since this would be both on and off of the inner island. However, it paid off, and now it is here as the first border between lands.

  1. I’m loving this park so far. I genuinely love the idea of the areas being themed off a single movie or two. It is fun to have it be more than just a ride. The whole area becomes part of the experience, and I love that. Again, it feels like being immersed in the movies! So cool!
