Muppet Studio

 

It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to meet the Muppets in the Muppet Studio tonight! Here in a New York City-resembling area, you can join in on these experiences hosted by the hilarious, wisecracking Muppets. As Walter had once said, these guys give you the third greatest gift, Laughter.

When you first enter from Hollywood Boulevard, you can go left on Fozzie way and find PizzaRizzo, Dr. Honeydew's Lab, and Fozzie's Joke Shop. If you go right, you will find New York Hoagies, Broadway Shop, and It's a Wonderful Shop. Dividing the two streets is the building that houses Muppetvision 3D: Muppets of Broadway, a new version of Muppetvision that features the Muppets as they are tasked to put on a recreated Broadway musical, and a few of the bumps they go through while doing it. During this show, they attempt to re-enact musicals such as Hamilton, The Lion King, and Mary Poppins, but there is a funny twist on each of them that forces them to move on to another project. The attraction exits into Muppet Merchandise.
Behind the Muppetvision building is a roller coaster called Gonzo's New York Rider, where you join Gonzo as he attempts his most daring act yet: riding a rocket around New York City. Around the coaster are Manhattan House, Mama Melina's Italian, and Finnigan's Irish Pub. Also around here is Broadway Bites and Muppet Show Menu, where you sit in a 1970s restaurant and watch select Muppet Show episodes while you eat.To the north of Gonzo's New York Rider is The Magic of Muppet Movies, a ride that parodies the former Great Movie Ride attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios, but instead, it shows you all of the Muppet Movies. However, there are some unexpected and hilarious things that happen along the way, and a few short detours that don't turn out as planned.

When conceiving a studios park for Disney, I found it a crime to not include the Muppets. In fact, I decided to give them their own area. As a kid, Muppet Treasure Island was one of me and my sister's favorite movies, so they are a big part of my childhood. However, I had trouble thinking of what their area should be like before looking at the New York part of the long-gone Streets of America section of Disney's Hollywood Studios. That gave me inspiration to base it around New York City. Also, mom requested that I write a new film for Muppetvision 3D, so I did just that.

    Is this area completely original work? I love every single piece of it. It’s like the Harry Potter World of Muppets. I’d want to spend a lot of time going in every store and experiencing every attraction! This is definitely one of my favorites!

Film Backlot

  Ever wondered what it is like to be a part of film production? Well, here is where you can go behind the scenes of movies, or watch as movies, television shows, and stage productions come to life. Not just do you get to take a peek behind the sets, but you get to join in on the entertainment universe itself. When you enter in from Hollywood Boulevard, you go into a studio. On the left, you can eat at the Backlot Bistrot, which contains six different dining rooms themed to live-action productions. On the right, you can go to the Hollywood and Vine. Up ahead where the road splits, you can hop on a tram for the Studio Backlot Tram Tour, where you tour a film backlot and see recreated sets from Pirates of the Caribbean, Mary Poppins Returns, the live-action remakes of Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, and Aladdin, and more.
